It is helpful to differentiate between stress that causes vata derangement — nervousness, carelessness, and sometimes forgetfulness — from stress that is characterized by more concrete symptoms such as allergies and intolerances to food, temperature, and sometimes other objects. There is also the secondary issue of tranquility of mind and spirit, something regarded as very important in Ayurvedic medicine. Finally, there is the question of stamina and coping power, the ability to extend margins in order to manage more life challenges.
